Iran scored directly from a free kick at the edge of the Belgian penalty area, but VAR correctly disallowed the goal after a lengthy review (~2 minutes). An Iran attacker was in offside position at the moment the free kick was taken and became active in the phase of play that produced the goal — interfering with play or with the goalkeeper's line of sight under Law 11.2. The lengthy review reflects the timing precision required (the exact moment the kicker connects with the ball is the reference instant), not uncertainty about the position itself. Once the freeze-frame at the kick is established, the Iran attacker is clearly beyond Belgium's last defender. Goal correctly chalked off, restart with IFK to Belgium.
